Writers, Authors, and Genres

Writers
Authors
Don’t always have the intent of publication
Trying to reach a certain group of people with a publicized work.
People who use words to express their feelings
Don’t always have to use just words, they can always use other art
Can write anything they want
When they are reaching out to a certain group they want to write to impress and adjust to the group that is receiving the information
Don’t have to be a certain emotion
Usually books and published work have a certain feel to them throughout the entire work
Don’t have to give credit to others ideas
Have to give credit to other authors

Types of Writing
Why you enjoy/Despise it
Persuasive Writing
Too much research
Narrative Writing
Easy to write because it’s about your self
Timed Writes
Not Enough Time to finish your thoughts

Balloons
Could you stop at the store,
I don't mean to be a bore,
Thank you for going to the store.

Balloons I need now,
Could you go get me some please?
This party needs it.

You could drop them off after
These things could be colorful,
Could you help me out with this.

Leave my house,
This party is too dope,
You weren't invited.

Nash: Hey I need your help
Friend: Sure, what do you need?
Nash: Could you go to the store, pick up some supplies, drop them off and then leave?
Friend: Sure, but leave?
Nash: Yeah, you aren't invited. Sorry.

Shopping list
Go to the store
Get food from the store
Drop off the stuff at my home
Leave because you’re not invited

For Poetry it was necessary for us to consider what words would get the meaning across the quickest. For a play we had to consider how people talk to each other, and for our shopping list we had to think about things people can do to help us.

Is Everyone an Author?

After reading the introduction to this book, I have found that it's possible everyone is an author. Whether on accident or not, writing can be used globally and with the internet anyone can access your writing. The difference, between and author and writer, is whether or not the work gets published. The work itself could be posted on a Facebook feed, or sent in an email. Anything counts with the internet. These people who post about certain topics may not realize the impact their words make. Whether locally between their small group of friends or globally, all of these authors have an important opinion and sharing them on forms of social media turn writers into authors.

It's obvious that with the new technology the definition of being an author has had to change and that becoming an author is much easier now than ever. An author now is anyone with a published work or piece. Authors no longer have to be original with their works either. People create opinion pieces on other works and make works that combine several other works into one. As soon as you publish your works, and make it available for the public to read you become an author and that can impact your life, or someone else. Authors don't have to write just books either. Authors can people musicians or other artists. Not only is everyone an author, but anyone can be an author.

Collaborative Writing on Writing

What is writing?
Writing is a written version of your expressions. It's one of the many things that is able to express your individuality. However it's one of the outlets that's able to express description more thoroughly in description to others. If you don't quite understand let me explain. I'm sure we all have our favorite book series and how well they speak to us. Well, there have been many good book series that have been transformed into movies and sometimes, disappointingly, they aren't able to capture nearly as much as the books.

What types of writing do you do?
I have done types of writing such as creative, expository, persuasive and narrative. More so expository and persuasive have been prevalent during my time. Creative and narrative writing were limited in the of times they were able to be expressed.

How does your persona shift per audience?
Our tone changed from situation to situation depending on the people and circumstance as it applies to them. There are many reasons as to why but the main reasoning is due to how well you know a person. Your friends, they're your friends. You've know them for a good deal of time so you are more relaxed and informal when speaking to them. However if you're applying for a job you become more professional because you're applying for a position in a company where you don't know the people and need to make a good impression.

About Me

My name is Sarah Page and I am 16 years old. I am a running start student from North Kitsap High School and I am a junior. I live on a farm and I have three dogs, seven cats, 5 cows and a horse. I enjoy playing softball, reading, writing, and spending time with my brother and sister. My sister is 19 and also attends OC. My brother is 8, and is very energetic.

A few things about me you should know are I love the outdoors, I can't stand the color orange, I work in a nut factory, I have a scar on my elbow from softball camp, and one time a horse bit me.  I was in 4H for five years, and I have previously won high point awards for the dog project within those years. After I graduate from high school, I plan on attending a four year university in Minnesota, and becoming a high school teacher. I am very excited to see what these two years in running start have to offer me.
